Local hero, Laura Muir, poised for her double Gold in Glasgow

Following the inaugural European Championships in 2018, Glasgow continued its successful legacy of sport events, successfully hosting the 2019 European Indoor Athletics Championships. Glasgow once again demonstrated the quality of its purpose build Emirates Arena track, for world class events.

When not hosting elite events with record breaking performances, the track is open and used daily by local clubs and athletes, including my own Cumbernauld AAC!

The technology ran smoothly, with much credit due to the experience of the venue, and British Athletics' and EA's established supplier relationships. The event was an excellent opportunity to meet-up with (and welcome to Glasgow) many friends and former colleagues from the European Championships and Athletics circles. From an innovation perspective, I had the opportunity to see Lynx shadow testing their new athlete tracking system, that I believe has many exciting potential applications.

I attended this great little event in Edinburgh that focused on digital innovation and the impact it can have on athletes, fan engagement, participation, and brands when planned and delivered effectively.

After having the opportunity to work closely with the Host Cities, Federations, EBU, ECM, and other partners to develop and deliver the inaugural Championships, it's brilliant to see Munich confirm a bid for the 2nd iteration.

The bid is a testimony to the success of the concept and how it can be an affordable way to bring the benefits of an elite level multi-sport event to a great city.

Motion Technology Services is supporting European Championships Management throughout the bid process, providing technical requirements and budget forecasting to assist Host Cities with their assessments and applications. Following the conclusion of the bidding process, Motion Technology Services will be ready to support the successful Host City, Federations and EC2022 partners with their technology planning and delivery.

I'm delighted to announce the formation of Motion Technology Services. With many years in event operations and supporting Host Cities it felt like the right time to establish Motion Technology Services, a business that can work across and support a diverse range of event projects.
